Jess Lane McIntosh and Jon-David Schlough were married Saturday afternoon at the Briar Patch Bed and Breakfast in Middleburg, Va. The Rev. Dr. B. Edmon Martin, a minister of the United Church of Christ, officiated.
The bride, 30, is keeping her name. She is the deputy communications director in Washington for Emily’s List, an organization that works to elect Democratic women who support abortion rights. She graduated magna cum laude from New York University, from which she also received a master’s in English literature.
She is the daughter of Nana M. McIntosh and the stepdaughter of Gregory S. Schneider of Arlington, Va. The bride’s mother, who is retired, worked in Brooklyn as a chief operating officer at the New York City Department of Education. The bride’s stepfather retired as a drama teacher at LaGuardia High School in Manhattan.
The bridegroom, 33, is the founder and the managing partner of Well & Lighthouse, a digital media and political strategy consulting firm in Washington that represents several Democratic senators and candidates for federal office. He graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn.
He is the son of David L. Schlough of Sartell, Minn., and the late Patricia Eull Schlough. The bridegroom’s father retired as the administrator for St. Cloud Ear Nose and Throat, a clinic in St. Cloud, Minn. The bridegroom’s mother was a psychologist in private practice in St. Cloud.
The couple met in June 2006 at the convention of the Minnesota State Democratic party in Rochester; she was the party’s communications director, and he was a political blogger.
